2.2 Diesel tank!
« on: 20 January 2010, 18:56:28 »

Hi everyone, im really struggling with my 2002 2.2 Dti and would really like to pick some brains if possible?
Got my Omega 10 months back and all seemed fine, until i did a motorway journey and it cut into limp home mode!
Since worked out it only does this at 80mph, accelerating uphill, so i got it code read and it came up with

low engine running voltage
Crytical systems malfunction 1
crytical systems malfunction 2
engine glow system fault

Now changed Alternator, and since this the car refuses to rev! totally no responce from the pedal at all, HELP!

Please throw your ideas at me as this is really annoying me coz i dont wanna scrap such a nice car,
Cheers Box

I don't think he meant the fuel tank, he's missed out a comma and was calling the car a tank I think.

Why change the alternator :o

Sounds like boost pressure sensors giving invalid readings (P1105 from memory). So clean out the intake system

Yeah sorry the the Car is a Tank ::)
I have cleaned the egr system, where do i find the intake sensors please?
I changed the alternator as i was getting a low charge voltage at the battery (11.2v)
and thought i would eliminate that as a cause (14.5v now).
i have been advised that it may be the vacuum pump on the back of the engine, but thats an expensive route to take to try find the fault, hence why i am asking for advice :-[
As to the ECU fault, i have no idea how to check it lol

Have you changed the 'diesel filter' under the bonnet, caused all sorts of problems on my 2.2 diesel at about 80k.

Hi, thanks for the replies i have has guys.
i have now got some proper fault codes, please read and advise,

P1635 Glow Device General Error
P0400 Critical System Malfunction 2
P1590 Engine Running Signal Low Voltage

I have looked thru the Fault code list on the forum, but cant find any of these (only P0400, and i can only assume thats part of the EGR system)

Thanks for reading, any advice would be appreciated

Hi
I cant help with the other codes but P1635 on y22dth engine appears to be monitoring current drain of glow plugs. If one or more glow plugs (or wiring) go open circuit, Eml light comes on at at start up and goes out after a  short while (perhaps when glow plugs turn off) P1635 code is stored but no display is shown.
Thought it worth mentioning although you appear to have fixed the problem.
