Running temp
« on: 10 February 2010, 15:50:51 »

My newly aquired facelift V6 runs at around 75 to just under 80 in the current cold (2deg or less) weather.

The heather blows nice and warm etc and all runs ok.

Is the temp ok as it seems a bit low to me

Temp gauges are notorious for being very vague.
If heater works and no coolant loss, sounds like you are in the clear and concerned about nothing

Like amba06128 says, if the heaters are ok for you and there is no loss of coolant why worry. The guages are not accurate anyway and if you use a digital thermometer test probe like I did the difference has to be seen to be believed.
Mine is about that too and I just don't worry anymore, unless it starts to rise over 95 that is and I don't hear the fan cut in.
You can always put your hand on the top hose and see if it stays cold then suddenly gets hot. If it does the stat is ok. If it gets hotter gradually with the engine then the stat is probably stuck open, or as I have seen before taken out cos it was fubarred.
