Mines a manual I get 26mpg around town that being a dive into London down M1 and around the A406 to Hanger Lane in the morning rush.  Those that know this route know what it's like  >:( :'( at the best of times.

As you say you are driving steady 15mpg that you're getting is low in my opinion  something isn't right.  Check the air filter, all air/fuel/water sensors and make sure the plug wells aren't full of oil this causes shorting and increased fuel consumption also check your brakes aren't binding.

Ok thanks will do tomorrow :y

Down the M1 and around the A406 is not "around town",if you can get 26 mpg from ANY petrol omega on the urban cycle you stand to make a fortune as people will pay for your magic secret!

My daily commute on main roads, I got 28.9mpg today. :y
Driving like a grandad though! ::)
Staying to 50/55mph on the A64, 70 on the dual cabbageway parts of the A64 and 50 mph on the A170.

Bloody hard work, but only five minutes longer than "normal" which sees about 22mpg

short trips in this cold weather drinks a lot of petrol, my trip to work is 3.5 miles and i use about £15 a week, roughly on a long run £15 would get me 120 miles.

I can see you've never done that route at 6.30 in the morning on a week day then mate  ;D  its pretty much nose to tail stop/start the whole way with the odd standstill thrown in at regular intervals just for good measure.

My journey is 32 miles takes me on average 1hr 45mins the worst it's ever taken me was 5hrs!!!!  If thats not urban driving I don't know what is, its as bad as any route I know of in fact I think it held the record once for being one of the worst anyone remember the Brent cross flyover road works about 5yrs ago?

My average is always around 26 mpg I don’t accelerate hard but find changing down rather than using the V6 grunt is better on fuel as is avoiding 5th gear at under 40mph.  I don’t think there is any secret just drive with a light right foot  :)

32 miles in 1 hour 45 mins is avereage speed 18.28 mph. I have 405 miles in my trip computer with an average speed of 22.0 mph. half of the miles covered were motorway cruising up to 80 mph, the rest were what i call urban cycle(around town).
If you are spending periods of this journey nose to tail or stopped then you have to have periods of driving at least up to the motorway speed limit and there are no motorways on an urban cycle.
Out of interest reset the trip computer when you have reached a part of the journey where you are unlikely to get above 30 mph again and let the computer calculate consumption from there to your workplace.
My consumption is reading 21.9 over the last 405 miles.Another 120 mile motorway trip might see that rise to 24-25,another 120 miles urban will probably take it down to 19 ish.
I tried  driving economically for a week and it just pissed me off and made me want to sell the car.Now i remember why i bought it in the first place and enjoy every mile!

Looks like you are going to check all the stuff I did. Binding brakes. Air Leaks. Lambada this and that. Electrics  ;D

Everyone appears to get an average between 15 to 36 mpg  :D

Just checked my trip since I reset everything beginning of the month. Car has done 365 miles on 17 gallon ;D

I think I have put around £90 in her. Its just off the quarter now showing a range left of 85 miles. Light will be fashing in 40 miles. ( less if I still poodle around town.)

I have now started taking my LD Convoy 2.5 Diesel ( Fully Loaded ) to site visits now. This will atleast do 200 miles on £40 as opposed to 130 in the Mig  :y

If you do lots of motorway driving they are okay. I get around 25mpg. Town driving... well I would get shot and buy a 5 litre Merc.  ;)

I know its only a 2.0 16v but I get 17 around town and 30 on a run. Frightening after having a diesel Astra.  :o

Would advise also checking the breathers aren't blocked. Just had mine cleaned today and on my commute route has gone up from 28-32mpg - 19mpg on hilly country lanes (yes we have some hills in Norfolk!) and near 40 on dual-carriageway @ 65 on cruise.

I've got a 2.6 CDX which struggles to get above 17 around town. On a run it will easily return 32 to 33 mpg. Seems normal to me especially as the manual says 17.8 for the urban cycle.

I reset my Trip Computer on every LPG fill up... Last one (this morning) was showing 31mpg average. That's around 260 miles of fast A roads (with lots of roundabouts) and Motorways and 50 miles of "Town" driving. Since the LPG conversion I'm not that good at taking it easy on the load pedal, especially away from roundabouts, so I'm pretty pleased :y :y
