cat glowing red hot ??

so my clutch is all sorted now FINALLY :D ,,, lol ,,, i took it out for a test drive and when i got back i smelt somthing hot ,, so i got the car up on ht e ramp and the drivers side cat was glowing bright red ,,, had alll off it off today to check see if anything is blocked anywhere and all seems fine ,, the car has had a missfire tho  :'( so would this cause the cat/cats to glow bright red ??

need my rocker cover gaskets doin and breather system cleaning out , can anyone do this and a price ???? ( lincolnshire area )

wouldnt be for a little while yet as cash is runnin low atm lol with just doin my clutch and flywheel ,, pokets are almost empty lol  :'( ,, oh well

Yes, a misfire can certainly cause cats to overheat.

another thing would it cause the car to get very hot as when i turned the car off the coolent fluid bubbled up and leaked out for a bit till got cooler??

Coolant boiling over after shutdown might be your auxilliary electric pump is not working.

You can go here for your breather pipes etc.  Its really easy to follow, only took me an hour or so.

I would do a pedal test and see if there are any fault codes present. Also whip off the coil packs and see if the plug wells are clear of water / oil. While you're there check the plugs, or replace if they've got close to 40k or more on them, or history is unknown.
