Brakes

Brakes feel rather spongy after car was laid up for 3 weeks. I had new discs, pads and fluid change in December though.... what else should I be looking at?....

did the garage just 'top-up' fluid? ie just suck out whats in the tank, and re-fill or did they actually change it and bleed from the nipple? (oooo eeer!)  ;D

It was bled throughout as I needed new brake pipes on both sides for MOT

I've been driving around with then for a week though so if calipers where siezed surley they'y free themselves off by now?

I never do brakes myself, i always get them done professionally, though I always remember mechanics asking me to "run in" the new pads and discs and return to the garage in a few weeks for re-bleeding, this may be your problem  :-/

new disks and pads would need running in, if you're unhappy and it was done at a garage take it back!

Discs and pads where done in December along with brake pipes but car was off the road end of Jan and first 2 weeks of Feb thats when I noticed spongy brakes after it was laid up so no problem with new brakes fitted...

Spongy pedal is usually a sign of air still in the system. New discs & pads tend to give a 'wooden' but firm pedal.

thats how the felt after the discs , pads and fluid change but dont feel right now afetr it hadn't moved for 3 weeks...

Might have air in the ABS unit which needs a tech2 to remove.

agreed, but i'd take it back to the garage that did the work for a check over, AND to re bleed.

What break pipes where fitted? just out of interset?
