ALL the heated seats work fine in my Elite....apart from one...the drivers.

What are the likely suspects please. I assume its not a fuse as all the others work fine.

With a TC card I'm happy to replace stuff thats broke but would like to know what to aim at !

element has burned out, if you have leather they are stiched in and not really possible to replace.

That could be something to do with the airbag, don't want to be messing with that.

Gonna say it again - you CAN fit aftermarket heater pads to leather - it's a PITA, but do-able.

Carefully cut out as close to the stitching without cutting the stitching, carefully pull off the cut pads away from the leather after applying some heat (heat gun is best, hairdryer quite cold in comparison), to warm up any glue (sometimes glue wasn't used though).

To fit new pads, simply glue to the foam, making sure they are the right side up.
Route new wires so they don't pass near any mechanisms or hinges and reconnect.

Airbags - not usually a problem, won't go off by banging them and are usually pretty safe.
Also, airbags are virtually useless after 5/6 years, so please, don't rely on them to work.

It is possible to cut the seams without cutting the leather but if you dont know what you are doing a seamstress would be better tackling it.  Do you have any mates in the army that know their garrison tailor?  Also there is often someone in the regiment married to a girl who has been a seastress at some point in their life.

If you were closer I would help, I'm no expert but this is within my abilities.  Are you popping down this way anytime soon?

Fairly straight forward, but its going to be a pig removing that from Leather, cutting the stiching is going to be messy.

I doubt most people will be willing to completley remove the seat either, so its not practical to replace with DIY skills.

What guide was that? Not got any pics of doing it and not been trimming for nigh-on two years.
I've described how to change the pads, but to be honest, there's a bit more to it like removal of seats (some people think it can be done in situ), removing plastics, separating the two halves of the seat etc etc etc.
It is a DIY job but like owt else, some people can, some people can't and some people won't.
Swap an alternator? Easy.
Repair an alternator? Erm lets just fit another alternator.

So by saying  if you have leather they are stiched in and not really possible to replace" is actually a falsehood and perhaps just your experience or beleif, and unfortunatley, alot of people only believe what they hear, not what they know.

I'm saying that it can be done - as I've done it quite a few times on Omegas with good results.

As to practicality - Is it practical to DIY rebuild an engine? Course it is for some people, but others can't, won't or even have the tools.

Quite a few in the trade have said, and we tried to set a few old ones off to see if they would work - only one did. Made us all jump I can tell ya!

The one you mentioned here:

they do fail, with leather your bum should be on fire within about 1 minute, if not they have failed.

Sadly they cannot be replaced on leather as they are stitched in 

Oh yes they can!
I've done it a few times, and typed it all up - do a search!
