I think my MAF is on the way out

EML light is on, codes 74 and 132 (egr is blanked off)

I remember reading it is best to get a new one from the stealers rather than 2nd hand?

Try it with maf disconnected - if improved MAF nackered.

Bought 2 new ones off ebay - just over £30 each - no probs.

If you want more info re source pm me and I'll try and find info when i get home tonight mate.

Engine is running fine, just got the EML on.  A pre-emptive error signal prior to failure perhaps?

It all makes sense to me...

132   Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Feedback Incorrect Signal

This has little to do with it being blanked off...if its stuck open then the position feedback voltage will be wrong....hence the code.

74   Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High

And as a result of the 132, the ECU is thinking, 'egr is fully open and I still get a high reading on the MAF'....hence the MAF code.

So, start by cleaning the inetrnals of the EGR really well and make sure the valve seat all moves.....get this sorted and I suspect the 74 will go

Thats handy info. :y

I blanked off the egr completely as there was a leak where the metal meets plastic and being a cheap mofo I looked at the easy option.

So are there any issues of carrying on like this for a week or so while I get a spare from somewhere?

None at all but.....remove the EGR and fill the base with oven cleaner, leave it for an hour and clean the crudd out.....it will probably then free of and work fine!

None at all but.....remove the EGR and fill the base with oven cleaner, leave it for an hour and clean the crudd out.....it will probably then free of and work fine!

Cheers, I'll just add it to the list of things to do on the car this weekend ;D
