omega 2.2 limp mode
« on: 27 February 2010, 17:44:29 »

hi all can anyone help.
eml light came on last week had codes read and came up cam sensor. just changed it and got the light to go out by starting 15 times cleanly. went for a run but still will not rev over 4000 rpm.now spanner light has come on. will not go out by restarting. all usual things checked breathers-egr . no oil in plug wells.

Double check sensor connections. If a known good sensor is used it doesn`t take 20 starts to extinguish the EML it should go out immediately. If all connections and wiring look OK, need to get codes read again as it appears cam sensor is u/s hence the rev restriction

just to double check was this bought from eBay as 'genuine' or did you get it from a Vx dealer?

EML = emissions. Spanner = fault

Only genuine ones are from a Vx dealer, motor factors will be an aftermarket one. You've wasted your money I'm afraid.

As above, Cam sensors from motor factors have a very poor track record. Should have bought from a dealer on trade  :y

hi got a refund and free replacement for my trouble.fitted it outside shop and was worse than before.called rac .here are the codes p0120-p1120 throttle. po340 cam sensor again. p1405-egr. p0170=bank 1 o2 sensor. would only rev with cam sensor plug disconnected. got home eventually and very slowly like that followed by rac. surely 3 cam sensors cant be no good. taking to garage in morning but any solutions would help. thanks andy

Wasting your time with motor factor "genuine" sensors. Get one from VX, other codes are probably spurious due to failed cam sensor
