big thanks to sassanach
« on: 22 December 2007, 17:32:39 »

Went down to visit him today, got the gearbox changed on Project Elite  ;D

Big, BIG thanks to him and his mate, for letting me use their garage with the lift. Old gearbox was off in less than an hour, less than 3 hours for the whole job!  ;D

So just like to say big thanks to him, for spending the time to work on it, and all the advice. Managed to sneek a view at his impressive collection of 1950's caddys!! In the flesh they are quite something, they make an Omega look like a Corsa!

Anyway with the car up in the air, noticed another cause to the lack of power, the back box was completely blocked!  :o

We took a half tone of the stuff out (baffles?) On the way back there was a HUGE improvement in performance, i think i am starting to see the V6 light, the Hids helped too!  :D

Got home, and more off the stuff was haning out of the exhaust  :o :o

Went to pull it out, and its totatly blocked again! - Its a pattern crap exhaust, which looks just a few years old.

So ..... where's the pictures? I think the old 'Yank Tanks' are fantastic cars. If space wasn't an issue I'd have a fleet of 'em.

One day Rodney ........  :y

Yep Ar25 is sweet as a nut, starting to see V6 is the way, the Elite flew on the way back. M4 was close just at Swindon so went the back way, so glad i did!

Did some overtaking moves, and soo much easier, plus the hids, very much enjoyed the drive back  ;D

Tappet noise is still there, more so if i am honest  :(

But now the box is done, i can potter on the engine. I saw you post in my other thread... i'll keep technical stuff over there... want to ask something!

Aye, top man is Sassanach, and he does know his autoboxes :y

Not sure if I'm deeply impressed by his autobox knowledge, or saddened that he's obviously spent a lot of time reading up on them  :P

Glad you got it sorted, Tunnie, and in more comfortable surroundings than would have been found in my garage, as it sounds.

It was very kind and nice of you to offer your garage Kevin, but even today it was bitterly cold. Height made the job so much easier....

Still got those tappets to sort  ;)

Yep he's a top man is Sassanach. He did an ATF change on mine and as you say, that lift makes the job far far easier.

Glad your seeing the V6 in a new light!
