Advice - dealing with antisocial behaviour
« on: 22 December 2007, 19:28:28 »

I'm a bit concerned for Maria.

Every night, between 5 and 8pm she is having an object thrown at her front window. Last night was felt tip pens, tonight was a coke can. It makes a real "thud".

A few times when this has happened, I have litreally gone flying out the front and there is never anybody in sight. (lucky for them).

How would you deal with this? Breaking their arms or pulling out their teeth is only an option if I can catch them.

Camera? Won't be any good in the dark though.

I'm going to get Maria to call the Police on a non-emergency number, not that I expect much support from them....

Just to add, we have no enemies, and have not upset anyone...

As per last time you discussed this, unfortunately its a case of nothing.  They will get bored if no response....

I wasn't around to read the outcome of that thread, 'cos it disappeared :P

I'm only asking again, because it's ongoing...

have to agree, its like the old days of school bullying.

Give a reaction, they come back for more. Ignor and they get bored.

We had a small problem of it here, just completley ignor it and they soon get bored!

definatly agree with the above, of course if actual criminal damage or the like starts to occur then maybe consider the police route, you can get cctv cameras that work ok in the dark so thats possibly an idea for the future.

new cameras have night vision even the cheap ones I use two..recommended and if you add voice property will be good hint for police :y

try them for darkness before buying. For better vision

also must add the distance in the dark determines the price for camera..And I dedicate one PC for that..if it is dual core also you can do other jobs

James, i think you and Maria must sit it out, DO not do what we would all like to do as you will end up in the brown stuff with the law, i know its easy to say and i am the worst for reacting.

Just keep an eye out to see if you or Maria know them, if so let the police know.

James, dont go out guns blazing as they say, not like me with the Autoglass man, my outcome could have gone the other way and me ended up being prosicuted.

A security light may deter them, especially if you install a camera too...  even a dummy camera works, the law requires a sign to be erected to say "cctv in use" that's often overlooked.

What I'm saying is... a dummy camera and a sign... cheapest option first.. see how it goes!

The very best of luck with this one, hope the above has given you some ideas..

totally agree,i had my car scratched twice, once on a friday and then on the saturday, next night, put up camera cheap one from argos and light on wall ,sign in window to say there is cctv monitoring the property,no probs since and scumbags who walk past always look and think twice now,it does act as a deterrent, well i find it works, good luck :y :y :y
