i had same problem a few weeks back and had to fit a new complete cable. At the release handle (inside car) I used a pair of pliers to grab the steel inner wire and pulled really hard and the bonnet lock released ok. Hopefullly this will work.
Fitting a new cable is not too bad even with air cond fitted I did not need to remove any fans at front to aid the fitting...I just removed grill and a bit of patience reaching up and along to refit cable end pin onto lock mechanism.
There is a guide to the cable adjustment in the Maintenance Index.
Good luck  :y
