Tech 2 upgrade
« on: 07 March 2010, 18:04:30 »

Would anyone mind telling me how one would go about getting the tech 2 upgrade I have been reading about?

I am assuming its a main dealer thing.

How much should it cost and what are the benefits?

Thanks guys and girls..  :)

possibly kevin  wood in hampshire.  I would rather use one of the guys on here as they know what they are doing with it. i'm not saying all technicians in main dealers don't know what they are doing. but when a person as a genuine interest in the car they a plugging into you know its going to be done correctly.  worth a chat with kevin. hes a bloody nice bloke. done my upgrade last year at newent and it makes a great deal of difference. also had two previous upgrades in the past and same again well worth having. hth :y

Tech 2 upgrade? So, kind of like a software upgrade for your car?

Interesting but cannot help thinking: if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!

Unless of course it is already broke but you just don't know because the software isn't working properly!

Any idea if there is a list of the fixes anywhere and the different software versions for each year? Or do dealers upgrade the software as part of a main service or similar?

Wrong dude !

Had both the cruise AND autobox upgrade and have noticed one hell of a difference.

Vauxhall release software upgrades through tech2 for a reason and from what I've read and experianced, for the better!

Doubt a main dealer will do it routinely - lets face it, its hard enough to get them to do what is on the service schedule!!

If ever you get to the top of Bucks, I can let you know what versions of all the software you are running, and let you know which ones I think are worth doing.

Hmmm. Could do a bit of a dog-leg on my way home but considering I don't usually finish work till 7 it'd be 8 before I was there.

Maybe in the summer when the evening are a bit longer ... and warmer.

Cheers.

Autobox upgrade from V5 to V9 (I think) was well worth it ... especially when towing the tin-tent  :)

Smoother changes especially when down-shifting, changes up at lower speeds and far less "hunting" when cruising.

Solo it makes no difference to performance (especially when the "S" button is played with), but again is smoother.

HTH  :)

I've got to admit it isn't the smoothest of gear changes and sometimes I'm almost screaming at it to change gear and it won't (although if I boot it and then back off it seems to kick it up a gear.)

On that basis I'm definitely interested ... assuming I'm not already running the latest version!

Were any upgrades released after Omega production finished?

I'm assuming that my 2003 2.6 has all the latest software but the gearbox is is so-so and the climate control is crap infuriating ::)
