More (oil leak related) help required please
« on: 15 March 2010, 10:58:44 »

Right, my rockers are now dry (yay ~ replaced with pucka vx ones ~ pricy but then I did buy a complete set of all intake gaskets as well), but, I seem to have a couple more leaks.

Had it up on a ramp over the weekend.

Diagnosis was the following.

Oil pressure switch is leaking out of the actual switch (is this a possibility ?)

And there is a leak around one of the oil cooler feeds near the oil filter (would this be a oil cooler failure thats leaking down the pipe giving the impression it's the pipe thats leaking).

The areas below the rockers were dry (so thats that one sorted ~ for now, although I know the breathers are clear as I had to remove the black plastic breather unit as the funny shape gasket that seals the hole had gone so it was hissing when I turned it off, so I gave them another clean just to be sure, and I checked the two pipes at the back of the block as well)

Another posibility was that the main engine oil seal had gone (but, wouldn't this empty the contents of the engine if it had blown ?)

These were all possibilities given to me rather than me coming up with them.

Oh yeah it's a 3.0 v6.

Cheers.

The oil pressure switch can leak. Had this on the 2.2. The oil seemed to be leaking right along the middle of the pressure switch. Changed it and cured.
