After fitting new wishbones, track rods, idler arm and drop links i was getting a bit pi$$ed off to say the least with tramlining. Im not near a WIM so had a go myself at doing camber. I measured camber using a spirit level going for 8mm gap at top of wheel. (neg camber). took wheel off and measured gap between disc and strut which was a 97mm, it was a 100mm before. Now i know most wont agree with this method but the car now drives like a dream. No tramlining. I know i may have moved tracking a bit as moving neg camber will make wheels toe in a bit but i will keep an eye on tyres. The handling was getting scary so its a good move as far as im concerned.

Can't quite see the logic there. :-? 
If the camber is right, then you've saved at least £60 on getting it done professionally, yet you're gonna wait until the tyres start to wear before paying around £10 to get the tracking adjusted.

if you fitted new track rod ends etc it will def need track checking without fail or the tyres will be nic-naked in less than a hundred miles

Hello,

Bearing in mind the work you have had done and all the potholes your better off getting a full Geometry done on the car for piece of mind, make sure your there when they do it and tell them the correct measurements you want, wont cost that much and its cheaper than tyres.

Im getting tracking checked on friday. I know camber should be done on machine but im just glad to have a car that goes in a straight line. It was becoming a bit of a handfull to control, even going over a road marking made it change direction. Ive had many cars over the years and i cannot recall one that reacted like the migg to road camber and pot holes.

Took my former Astra TD van to ATS, and the kid doing it made a right break-up.
Gave me all the crap etc, and after driving it off the ramp, I refused to pay.
The manager then threatened me with the police - I still refused to pay.
Told him that I'd be charging them for wasting my time etc etc.
Told them to f**k off, and then drove away.

Remember, it's your right to refuse payment if you're unhappy with the workmanship.
Don't be afraid to challenge them!

Thats why i do all the repairs i can as ive had that many bad jobs done in the past. The last bad experience i had was when i had new discs fitted and they left brake calliper loose
