Heater matrix - thanks!!
« on: 10 March 2010, 21:08:06 »

Hi

Just a note of thanks for the help and info regarding changing the heater matrix the "easy" way!

Not a job for the fainthearted, but nothing like the horrendous proceedure detailed by Haines. Thanks to Abiton, whose "cut-line" I followed exactly. You'd never know I'd been there.

I've had the engine out and back in less time than it took me to do this, but nevermind!

Target now is to coax the old girl up to 150K miles.

Thanks again,

J

Coax her up to 150K? Piece of cake so don't worry. These miggys were made to last. Just kep her well serviced, bit like a woman really, and she will do it all for you. Mine is approaching 170K now and is still extremely reliable, smooth, quiet and very fit putting some of the newer 'go faster' boys to shame. I just love their faces at the lights grinning at me when they try to pull away like a racing car while they make theirs squeal like stuck pigs to beat me. Very few do! The rear window blind is then great for blanking their fingers up as I sail away.
I hope to reach 200K before I think of a 'heart' transplant or rebuild.

Mines approaching 150k, and you wouldn't know it. smooth, quiet (apart from the water pump "talking" to me at the moment) and reliable.
Next door had one a couple of years ago at 210k, and only sold it cos he got a company car.............!

Glad you got the job done, and that you're happy with the result greenomegaman.  :)

Ours is on about 165K.  Probably got a year or two's life left in it.

Yes, I see in the "cars for sale" that some 'migs have stellar mileages. Going to have to last, anyway, as the only other car I fancy is the VXR8 Bathurst, but it's out of range for a couple of years price-wise.

Glad I'm not the only one who blanks people with my rear blind - but I save mine for headlight-flashing BMW's and Audi's!!
