How is the dimming rear view mirror controlled?
« on: 20 March 2010, 21:36:59 »

Ive got my cdx but i was wondering if i fitted the dimming rear view mirror how would it be controlled?

As i looked in scrapyard and there was an elite in but no obvious way to control the mirror motor.

I know about wiring the dimming alone in but id like to have it working properly.

Is there any chance of the car being wired for it already.

Its all controlled by the elite seat settings. You program in upto 3 settings and the ECU remembers them, when you press one of the 3 buttons, the seat, external mirrors and internal mirror move to the preset setting. Dont think it will be possible to retro fit it so the motors work :(

Do you mean just the 'auto dimming' opereation or the motor that changes the posiion of the mirror ?
The 'auto dim' is controled by a two sensors, one in the plastic frame, the other in the mirror glass.

Ah good point Richard. The dimming simply needs the power connection (although there is a reversing wire that turns off the dimming) but if you need full auto positioning as well then it's more work than I'd be tempted to do.
