The answer depends on your MPG, and in other words how your car is being driven and the standard of engine maintenance. ;) ;)

However I always reckoned with my old 2.5 I had about 3 gallons, or 75 miles left if lucky! ::) ::) ::)

I would have thought it depended on how you drive TBH? I have seen it mentioned that some members get around 300 miles to the tankful doing mainly motorway miles, so a quarter tank could be good for 70/80 miles?  :y

Te reason im asking is because i changed the sender unit today range was saying 103 miles i drove for about 8 miles and it was still saying 103 miles ? the reason i changed it was cause the old one was giving an eratic reading on the fuel gauge and the range kept going up instead of down !!

'Range' depends how it's been driven before. eg I've just driven home with my caravan on the back averaging .... not very much - I saw 8.something in places :-?. The next time I take the car out without the 'van on I expect the average to be low 20's. The trip computer will therefore adjust the range based on 20 something instead of low teens  ;)

Zero the lot (averaage mpg, range, trip fuel etc) & go from there

That can happen! ;) ;)

If the start of your journey is in town, perhaps in heavy traffic, your MPG will of course go down to say 19 MPG, with your range dropping accordingly.

But take it out onto the motorway, get some miles under your belt doing 70, and your MPG will increase to say 30, as will your range!

Obviously that is only temporary, as once you have done a few miles at 70 (giving around 30 MPG), then you will of course start burning your fuel range off! ;) ;)

Hope  that makes sense! :D :D ;)

It goes up or down depending upon the way you are driving!
Lets just say you have 1 gallon and driving like a lunatic gets you 10 miles? Then driving like you're carrying nitroglycerine gets you 35 miles?  Any number of different driving styles in between the two gives a different reading on the screen depending on what's going on at any given time? HTH ;D :y

Cheers for that lizzie i will watch it closely for next few days its just that before i changed the sender unit the range used to fall continuosly no matter how i drove the car but whos to say this was not another fault reading ? maybe just carry a gallon in the boot and see how far it goes ? :-/
