Core plug replacement

Come on gang, really need some help. Can the plug be replaced with engine in situ?  I don't even know its position in the block.  Anybody out there with 'the knowledge'?

On my 2.5 Daz managed to refit the plug back in the O/S head but had to remove all the skuttle to do it.
I would think N/S head would be virtually impossible to do with it in the car.

Are you sure its the core plug?
If you remove the scuttle panel and climb onto the top of the engine armed with a torch you should be able to see :y
I will have a look how easy it is too remove the dispack carrier on an engine I have that may give us an idea...

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I'm pretty certain it's the core plug, but not 100% sure. Had an initial check around the HBV and other hoses. All seems dry. I took the plenum and trumpets off just to check that the coolant bridge wasn't the problem.
The water runs out under gravity. Even with the plenum off etc, fill up and watch it pour out.

I hate to say it but the core plugs I have done did exactly the same run straight out as soon as you poured the water in :(

It will be tomorrow when I look at the engine I can take some pictures too if that helps so you can see what your up against :y

No!!  Hasn't had antifreeeze for quite some time.  Did top up when the weather got cold. Have to add in defence the car is being used by my son, and didn't realise the antifreeze was below par. Could this be a contributing factor?

 :-? It's been the coldest winter in over 30 yrs, so quite probably.    ;)
