fitting 2.5 vectra b cam covers to the 3.0 x30xe
« on: 29 March 2010, 13:02:52 »

I am going to carry out this mod and clean the breathers while I am at it due it oily spark plug wells.

Which rocker gaskets should I use?

thanks.

Can I ask why you want to do this mod?  If it is because of the myth around warped covers, I would advise you not to - yes, vectra covers do not fail as often, but the crankcase pressure (that can't escape via cam cover gaskets if breathers are blocked) escapes via front or rear crank seal.  I know I'd rather replace camcover gaskets than crank seals ;)

Obviously, if you are changing them for effect/styling, ignore my mutterings above, just ensure you clean your breathers very regularly

Be aware that the vectra covers have to be fitted on the wrong banks so you can get at the oil filler (although its still not easy).

This in turn compromises the plug leads slightly.

Yep, needs to be the correct vectra gaskets as the gasket design is totaly different to that of the plastic covers
