emmision fail for mot
« on: 08 March 2010, 17:22:56 »

Hi all, been a long time since been on so here goes. Car failed emmisions on mot test, changed lambda sensor after code reader said it was knackered. Emmisions still too high but hav dropped considerably to what they were, now have code numbers P0170 fuel correction bank 1, and P1555 throttle valve control motor position nominal vs actual comparison.
Can anybody please tell me what needs changing to get rid of these codes and get my emmisions down, would be much obliged all :-/

Probably worth clearing those codes, see what returns.

They did clear the codes and they returned, any ideas?

On my 2.2 the code P0170 was cured by a new air flow meter  :y

I was getting lots of problems with the code P0170 last year ..... i saw a genuine air flow meter on egay going cheap and decided to take the chance with.... thankfully for me cured the problem  ... car felt better for it too , more responsive .. it was guttless before .... the car never threw up any code for air flow meter so i guess it was still working well enough not to throw up a code for it .
Not sure about the P1555 though  :-/

Right, before changing parts willy nilly, you need to get a live data reading on the MAF/Lamda/injector pulse/throttle positions v pedal positions

It would have been handy if someone with same car near by could compare maf values etc .... i would have gladly helped but your a bit far away .... if you can get someone to get live data i can compare it to mine and see what it shows  ... im sure i posted up some of my live data when i had this problem but the chances of finding a post so long ago would be slim i think .... i'll try and look though :y
