It was very nice meeting you Andy :y

Now for the results...

A couple of things we did notice though. 1) the 0155 (TPS) fault only came up when you held the RPM around the 1k mark for more than a few seconds so I'd say it was either a dirty contact or the PCB is failing in that area. 2) Watching the live data when the 0170 came up the 02 sensor loop was dropping to closed from open at the exact moment the 0170 reappeared. Pre-cat sensor is new, so could it be the post cat sensor causing it?

P0170 won't be affected by the post cat Lambda sensor.

I'm guessing the fuel trim is going out of range which drops it into open loop and triggers the code.

Is the coolant temperature sensor reporting plausible values?

Also - can you monitor the fuel trim value? Just wondering which way it's going and under what conditions you get a large fuel trim?

MAF reading is perhaps a little low. A while since I've seen one on a 2.2 but I'd say 12 Kg/h would be more typical at a hot idle. Maybe the MAF is getting lazy and resulting in a large fuel trim to keep the mixture correct?

When it goes open-loop and the P0170 appears does the idle change at all? Does it hesitate, go lumpy, cough back through the intake, etc?

Coolant temp. seemed normal at the time, fuel trim value said normal until the lambda circuit went open the showed lean. This happens once warm and under any circumstanses, be it idle or varying speeds of fast idle.

Just a thought Andy, does it run rough when first started from cold?

Yes it does run rough or lumpy sometimes from cold Lee.
Is the conscensous that i should change the maf sensor and go from there? :-/

Sorry for the delay in answering, missed this dropping off the bottom of the page. Next time you start from cold (I.E. in the morning) unplug the MAF before you start it up. See if it runs smoother than normal.
