The TPS error is concering as with this as a fault, the ecu may drop to a default map......and this would be open loop which might explain the failures.

Charting live values would be interesting so we could see a graph showing the throttle opening progression.....against MAF and lambda (note, without flooring the throttle pedal)

I unplugged the maf last night after getting home from work and left it untill this morning. Started fine and acceleration has vastly improved also Lee  :)

99% it's the MAF then,  although I'd like to (at some point) chart the TPS against maf and lambdas as Mark has suggested.

Have a look on eGay, you can pick up new MAF's for the 2.2 for about £35.

Diesel MAF is different. Original Vx part number is 90530463 but double check on yours, it's stampted on the flat part just about the plug :y

EDIT: eGay listings .....   http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m38.l1313&_nkw=90530463&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Passed mot Lee thanks to your help, but one small thing is that my spanner light comes on every now and then when starting. Have to turn off then on again to clear. Am going away for a few days over easter but would like you to have another look with your gizmo and try to bottom this one out please after easter.

Had the same problem with my 2.2 a few months back - spanner light coming on when warm and 155 code - throttle position sensor. I took the throttle body off and cleaned it and the breathers. The throttle body didn't look too bad, but there was a little crud on it which might have stopped the butterfly closing properly - make sure the small hole under the butterfly is clear also. Anyway, long story short, the code cleared and the spanner light has never been seen since.
Might not be the same on yours, but just a thought.

That was the plan swampy :y Going to get some live data off it first at various throttle positions to compare then gibe the TB and breathers a good cleaning and re-do the live data.
