Going to look for a new lap top tomorrow, i know what i want but not being into computers what is the vista i keep hearing about, is it something that runs with windows operating system, or is it something that runs the operating system instead of windows.

If it runs with windows what is it.

Vista is a replacement for Windows XP. its their new OS and it sucks!

Well maybe not to network managers but to general public it is! Its very power hungry and slows down new machines, 'upgrade' to XP and it will be vastly quicker, and you will loose hardly any features.

It's Windows' latest operating system, which replaced XP
I use it and find it O.k
I'm sure there are some XP nuts who will point out the error of my ways though ;D

modified :- too slow i guess

Your paying for it. You can have it with baked beans on it if you want.

If you purchase through novatech you can stipulate No OS, XP or Vista on most of their machines .. so if you already have a copy of XP you can use it on your new machine  :)

Vista still full of bugs, plus a lot of any old software you have may not work, Go for XP Pro its a good platform.

Insist that its installed for free no matter where your buying your new LapTop from, any good Computer Shop should know this already, thev made enough money from installing XP back on New Vista machines.

You should be able to, depending on where you are buying from, if they build to order they can. If its PC world or similar forget it.

XP to the average user is excellent, Vista has nothing extra.

Dear TB, can you please stop that nasty Miggy from calling me names on the forum.

I'm starting to feel quite threatened and insecure.

Love, Steve.
