Ecu reset?

Hi everyone. Just a little question. Is it possible to reset the ecu without disconnecting the battery as I dont want to loose my radio code? I have a 2001 CDX 2.6 v6. Thanks.  :)

Welcome to the forum. :y

In what respect do you need to reset the ECU? These ECUs have non volatile memory so removing battery power does not necessarily do what you want. It won't clear fault codes, for example.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies.

I've just got the car and it was fitted with an induction kit. This has now been replaced with the original airbox and I was told it was best to reset the ecu once this was done. I'm not sure on that tbh but I thought id give it a go, if it's needed.

I didnt know that resetting the ecu didnt clear the fault codes either (I'm used to fast jap cars!) so that was a handy bit of info. :)

Oh and I'm in Shrewsbury btw. :)

Nice to see you removed the induction kit, they are useless anyway, as the ECU re-learns. It should do the same with the GM system back on

:) Yeah i'm not too sure on induction kits on n/a engines. (both my other cars are turbo'd) It seems to be better with the original airbox back on.

As long as a reset isnt needed for the airbox change i'll leave it as is then. Thanks for that.  :)

No I didnt get that unfortunately. It was a private sale and that was missing.

No I didnt get that unfortunately. It was a private sale and that was missing.

Take V5 to a dealer, and they can get a replacement ordered varies in cost from £15-£50 depending on dealer

if you want to disconnect the battery without inserting radio code, do lock the car with remote and disconnect battery and you can do what ever you like when you finish work keep doors locked and connect battery then you can unlock doors, by this you will not need to radio code insertion

I doubt that will work, as there is no link between radio and alarm.

  :-? The whole point of disconnecting a battery is to isolate a car electrically, once it's disconnected that it, everything is dead.  :-?
