one for Bruce....
« on: 27 December 2007, 22:59:47 »

James post jogged my memory, going to Bath, I passed a mobile speed camera van parked on a bridge across the motorway   >:(

Bloody thing, 9:30AM hardly anyone on the road... money making !&$%^! box on wheels!

Anywho, i was doing about 80/85mph.. gps readout said about 83 mph.

Now i am not going to say sorry for doing that speed on a motorway, everyone and his son do that speed on the motorway!

Question is, can i expect anything?  :'(

General "allowance" is quoted as 10% + 3 .... 70 + 7 + 3 = 80 ....   :(  very close .. you'll know within 2 weeks.. until then .. nothing you can do .. :(

If it was recording, and you were doing 83mph - I would say you've a good chance of getting a fine....

i think they normally check reg plate tunnie to see if cars have insurance mot's and soforth so you might be ok or it will have been a speed camera and its 3points and 60 quid

It will be an f*cking joke if i get one... might as well give 80% of the drivers on the road one.

Do 70mph on the motorway and all you will overtake is trucks, nothing else  >:(

well it was in the middle of the countryside, no lurking cop cars to pounce on the uninsured / no tax cars.

So i think it was a speed one  :'(

True, when they are checking for insurance, etc etc - there are usually cars nearby to intercept...

Tunnie
I would suggest at best a warning letter, at worst a fine and points.  It can sometimes depend on the general flow speed of the traffic overall as to what setting the cameras prosecute at.  Combine this with the accuracy of your speedo/gps and its a close call, perhaps.  Like other posts previously, its still 14 days notice to the regkeeper.

If you dont get a fine/points Tunnie count yourself very lucky.

If you were lucky the van may have been checking the traffic going across the bridge and not the road below.

There is such a place in Swindon........a van sits on a bridge above the A419....its on a blind corner of it too.......so its defo too late by the time you see it.....but sometimes its not checking the A419, its monitoring traffic going across the bridge.

I believe that particular section of the M4 was (maybe still is?) zero tolerance on speeding  >:(

Dave - I saw a huge lens sticking out the side of the van pointing at me  :(

I calculated the 14 days, if nothing he here by Saturday then i am safe.

If it is Zero tollerance, they must have issued tickets to everyone driving that day, i was hardly overtaking any traffic!
