Ive joined the LPG Gang.....
« on: 29 December 2007, 22:17:16 »

Just back with my new project....

straight 6 Grand Cherokee 4litre.

Magnificent condition inside and out and full lpg. FULL service history, unmarked leather and carpets and hundreds of pounds worht of reciepts....

Its an MOT failure on everything to do with brakes......( discs, pads, handbrke shoes, a caliper and brake pipes. Otherwise its fine.

Now i know we dont like these things but at the price ( 3figures) i really couldnt let it pass me by.

Its awful to drive ( refinement wise) compared to an omega, but the level of equipment is astonishing.....

Now the lpg seems really well done but i DONT like the tank or position, how easy is it to move the tank?

Ill post some pics in the daylight....

I suppose it will come in handy with all the bad weather you get up there.

Depends if you've got enough pipe to get it where you want and if the pipe is solid copper or flexible, but not too much work. Plug the old mounting holes and drill some more, reconnect the fuel feed and filler pipes and electrics.

its situated in the boot and runs along one side front to back ( rather than accross left to right) i want ideally to have the donut shaped tank and have it under the boot carpet...

guess i need to concentrate on making it stop first though  ;D

Get it MOT'd before you play with the LPG

Does it run OK on gas?

Not sure about the Grand Cherokee, but Land / Range Rover LPG's have some kits to put the LPG tanks underneath at the rear boot?

Might be worth investigating.

It's the normal trade off between range and space consumed, I guess. Depends how many miles you need to be doing on a fill up. A tank change wouldn't be a problem. Shame you're not closer to James, Markie(No.2) and I!

I don't know how specific the LPGA certificate is no what tank was installed might need to get it certified again just for good measure.

Did it have an SGI system or mixer in the end?
