retro fit xenons, whats the fix?
« on: 06 May 2010, 23:22:39 »

im sure i have read this before, cant fint a how to, or anything in the search box on this.

I have a set of xenons, i want to fit to a normal gls ( the UTE!) but it doesnt have xenons already, it just has normal lights.

I am sure there is a fix for these somewhere?  presumably and obviously, it wont work with the leveling arms as they are not fitted to this model.

any help please?   i will then write up a HOW TO and photograph the retro fit for others.

cheers
Si

there are really two options :-

either just retrofit the lighting and wiring and rely on either the manual adjusters or no in-car adjusters.

or, try to retrofit the control system, too.

The choice is dependent really on wether you believe the Department for Transport "opinion" on the matter. They have released their views on the subject, purporting as "law". These views are plain wrong and not enforcable.

either of the above situations are acceptable, only the second one will pass the IVA test - so if you don't fit washing and self-levelling, then you need to fit the lamps after your test.

Give me a ring if you like - I'll talk you through it. You may remember I work in the motor vehicle legal trade.

p.s. the plum-coloured Omega I had from you is now running fine. All faults fixed and converted to manual.

good news on the plum! i have a selector switch here if not but too late as you now put a clutch in her!
i bet she goes like stink!!

the legal side isnt an issue it will be checked for height on the mot light rig, but i need to check how to wire them in, there was a fix i thought, if not i will just wire it in as i go and do it the hard way with my meter etc.  just looking to cut out the learning curve and have a link to the fix, but maybe there wasnt one after all lol
