Knocking Sound
« on: 10 May 2010, 00:31:38 »

All

Have put on new wishbones a month ago

All was fine for a few weeks and now I have a sound of occasional knocking sounds like metal banging under the car somewhere near the front right wheel... pretty sure it is not the drop link as it is still there so bit baffled... any ideas?

I had a similar noise, a metal clattering noise and it turned out to be the anti rattle spring on the brake pads. I changed both drop links too while i had the wheels off cos they're cheap n easy to do

First things first - check all the bolts that were disturbed when the wishbones were changed. Maybe one has worked loose or was overlooked when torquing?

try grabbing the steering idler arm and see if there is any play in that (nearside chassis leg next to n/side exhaust downpipe if you didn't already know)

Knackered drop links difficult to diagnose mate - just because they look ok and bolts are tight doesn't mean they ain't worn!!
