Blood pressure and glucose levels
« on: 31 December 2007, 18:03:12 »

Thought I'd get some additions for my first aid kit today.

Bought a proper electronic digital blood pressure tester, with fully adjustable arm cuff! Great bit of kit. I used Maria as a guinea pig, also tested it on Hannah and myself, it works a treat. Maria and I both have healthy blood pressures - Hannah's was a little raised, but probably 'cos she never stops running around, and wouldn't stop screaming as the cuff tightened  ;D

Also bought a digital blood glucose level machine, again a great bit of kit. Comes with all the bits and peices, incl the lance to get blood from the finger. Tested it all on us today, Mine was 5.5, Maria's was 6.3, Hannah's was 5.7 - all good.

Trying to get the girls to prick their fingers was like trying to get blood from a stone - I had to catch Hannah by surprise to draw blood, but it worked  :o

I need to get an oxygen kit next.... you never know when you'll need it.

Today's surgery is now closed  ;D

You are suppose to test for glucose level when starved for 12 hours

It makes a difference when you last ate....anything over 7 is considered needs further testing  :(

I bought a digital blood pressure tester.......it was rubbish.....it always said mine was fine......but when tested by doc with 'old fashioned' tester......mine was high.........

I find it's best to take several readings to compare ... inc first thing in the morning before breakfast...
