facelift windscreen wiper problem

my 02 omega has developed a wiper problem,they work but when switched of the continue to go till the cars switched off,when on int they just keep going as well,any help much appreciated.thanks niall

It could just be a faulty switch, needs further investigation though.

should have said i have changed the switch,made no difference.

when you press the wiper switch once, the wipers continue and then park. this is controlled by connections in the wiper motor mechanism. :)

If you have changed the switch then I'd say the wiper relay was faulty

there's a 'park'switch inside the unit, you can get to it if you drill the rivets out. A N Other wiper motor is the easiest option  :y
nothing to do with the wiper relay either  ;)

the problem is the wipers keep going full speed even when i have them turned off

Is your model an Elite by any chance?
I had the same issue with an '02' Elite. The intermittent cycle counts as 'auto' for the auto wipers, and until sorted the wipers appeared to have a mind of their own.

as said, you need another motor or if you're compitant/confidant you need to take the cover off & have a look at the reed switch in there.
I've a feeling there's a guide on how to remove the scuttle & wiper mechanism  :-/ becareful of the paint on your driver's wing if you do remove it all.  ;)

mechanic by trade so geting at the motor wont be a problem,have fixed a few mk4 astra motors.

same thing!  :y  :y  :y My Astra G wipers parked where they wanted to, when the cover was removed I found that the actual contact from the reed was missing. I bent the arm a little & all was well ..... till I swapped the whole mechanism before SWMBO's  written off Astra G was taken away.  :y
