idle control valve
« on: 17 May 2010, 13:13:57 »

when i start engine on cold start, idle revs are erratic between 500-1500rpm. engine stalled on me twice yesterday once about 6-7 miles covered, bearing in mind its an auto!
I have also noticed a tapping noise, so i removed air filter to go about cleaning icv. Just for curiosity i started engine to see if noise was icv and without filter it sounds horrendous. have not done anything else wanted to find out from you oracles if the valve is knackered or just needs cleaning or if i am missing something obvious. please help..... :'(
