Facelift door mirrors elite
« on: 27 May 2010, 00:39:11 »

Hi all

Does anyone know if I can get just the mirror glass for facelift door mirrors. Previous owner broke drivers side but glued pre facelift glass to both sides. At the moment I have pre facelift mirrors on which work fine but want to put the originals back on - both are now without glass.

Please say I don't have to buy the complete mirrors.

Cheers

The glass itself can be bought seperately, around £50 each last time I bought a heated mirror. I supposose it depends if there's anything broken as to why prefacelift mirrors have been glued on, IIRC mirrors have 3 cups on the back which locate on 3 balls in the mirror housing. Heated mirror glasses come complete with heated bit firmly attached to the back, you can't remove it & you certainly don't need to swap it over to A N Other glass.  :y

try ebay you might be lucky. Last year I picked up a pair of complete mirror units with glass in the right colour for £20.

Hi

Thanks everybody - that's really helpful. The mirrors don't have three cups but a large circle with a corresponding one on the back of the glass and two male connectors.

I've actually put a pair of pre facelift mirrors on for now but they don't have the memory and are not colour coded. So I'd like to put the original colour coded ones back on but both need glass.

Cheers

I'll keep looking on ebay but the only facelift mirrors are up at £99 each - just seems a lot.

They do command a premium, especially Elite ones with the feedback motors.

Just keep watching ebay and you'll get them at the right price eventually.

You can get the mirror glass on its own from your dealer.  IIRC, they all have heaters.

If you need the mirror mechanism, expect to pay good money for elite ones.

That's not bad for a new glass - I'm off to see them.

Cheers again for everybodys help.
