17 Knock Signal Circuit 2
« on: 30 May 2010, 15:47:25 »

hi Guys, new here. On my Vauxhall Omega 2.5 CDX automatic the ECU light has started to come on and off and I noticed a loss of power. I have done the paper clip test and came up with

17 Knock Signal Circuit 2

So I've been searching and came up with the engine knock means theres some kinda misfiring and the ECU retards the power output of the engine to compensate.

I wanna get this fixed as it can feel like taking off with traction control on when the light is on. It isn't on permanently but regularly enough to be a pain.

I can't seem to get much info on it on-line or from the manual, so if anyone can enlighten me on whats happening and how i should go about fixing it I'd be grateful.

Mounted on side of engine block. (#2 is pass side). Very rarely fail so first port of call would be to check the cabling/connections. And check your oil level

If camcovers have been done in last year or so, check the knock sensor cable hasn't got trapped under cam cover...

i'm a total newb under the bonnet :( do you know of any howto's that would show me what to look for and where to look for it in pictures?

Or maybe recommend a garage in the bristol area that could do it for me.
