HID bulb replacement help please.
« on: 29 May 2010, 12:16:18 »

Hi all.

Got a new set of 6000k bulbs for the omega, however i cant seem to find an easy way to access the hid enclosure? I've pulled back the rubber cover and can see the part that attaches to the back of the bulb but can't twist it enough to remove the bulb.

Is it a headlight removal job?

Thanks

Rob

Easier to take the headlight unit out then you can get at the housing without dropping and loosing any of the torx screws, 2x 8mm hex head screws on the top of the headlight, remove the trim strip under the headlight and you can see the bottom 8mm hex head screw through the gap, pull the headlight out and unplug  :y

Can you let me know how the 6000k bulbs are, i'm thinking of getting some myself as the standard 4100k that are in here seem pretty poor  :-/

yup, need to keep those bulbs clean, too fiddly otherwise imo

3rd screw behind trim piece under headlight is the fiddle with removal though, long extention on an 8 mill socket, tape the screw onto the socket to refit. :y

thanks for your help. sadly the cheap bulbs i brought from a well known auction style website turned out to be rubbish, one bulb blew with in an hour of use, and the second kept flickering and then blew too! so old bulbs back in for now, the old saying, you get what you pay for!!

If you havn't got yourself sorted yet you could try ring automotive. If you click on the link below just put in your make/model/year & it comes up with whichever bulb you are looking for back or front of car. The Ring Xenon Max is a recommendation  :y

Hope its of help  :y

Just had a look on the site, if you select "Omega Estate HID" it gives you the ones you want.   :y

Remember that the 6000k ones actually emit LESS light than 4100  ::)
