Windscreen washer pump
« on: 09 June 2010, 20:56:30 »

Fitted some of the front end back up today after sourcing a new windscreen washer pump from an astra, after someone snapped the nozzle off.Anyway managed to get one from scrappy from an astra, which has twin outlet,so blanked one end off,but after fitting it all together, there is no water coming out of washer jets, both windscreen and headlight.Pump is working, but nothing coming out, even after approx 2 minutes with pump running. :-/

What a pillock i am andy,no lights were not on,infact drivers headlight isent even fitted at the moment, but still doesent explain windscreen washers, and dont know what outlet i have blanked, dident really think it mattered. :-/As the drivers headlight isent fitted yet, would that have anything to do with it,but still you can still hear the pump working, just wondered if it all had to wired up,possibly all interlinked maybe.

I pass re the headlights washer pump.  ;)

Normally the twin outlet washer pumps rotate in one direction for one outlet & t'other for t'other outlet. remove your blank with both outlets disconnected, operate your washers & see which outlet spits water - then blank the other  :y  :y  :y

PS I bought a single outlet pump from the Bay of e for about £5 ...... so far so good!  ;)

It is, but the motor spins one way for one outlet & the other for the other outlet  :y  :y
Your way would require both screens to be washed at the same time.  ;)
