Starting problems on 2.2 diesel
« on: 09 June 2010, 12:15:07 »

hi,
I've just got myself a cdx 2.2 diesel. I decided to get it serviced for piece of mind a couple of days ago. After the service the car would not start. The small pipes on top have now been changed and there was still no joy. Finally, the car started after a short tow, but after leaving it for 1 hour, the problem has returned!!!! Help...please tell me I aint bought a nail!    :(

if you have just had it serviced and the fuel filter was changed I would be looking there first and the pipework around it,was it ok before the service?

Car was fine before. When towed and started, it runs great. But leave it for any longer than 45 mins....... It has been checked over by a mechanic, but he couldn't see any obvious problems

Got a feeling there is no primer pump on 2.2 DTI  I thought it was just the back end pump on these (??)
Sounds just like leak off pipes,  (which may be the "small pipes") but I agree with what others have said... something has been disturbed.
Did your garage replace both the sealing rings as supplied with the new fuel filter?

No primer pump but, check the fuel filter housing for cracks.....I have seen one or two cracked by heavy handed mechanics

You might hear the leak if you place the car nose up, placing it nose down and keeping the tank full can help you until you get this solved.

You should really let the workshop sort this out, they have most likely done something bad when they changed your filter...
