Water Leak
« on: 16 June 2010, 21:17:08 »

Bit of an odd ball.

Topped up yesterday after seeing a slow patch of water appear last week but 24 hours after the car was run, not used the car, so topped up yester day and warmed the car up to running temp, checked the water level and no leaks apparent, had also put the heating through hot/cold a few times to make sure all the car was hot..

Lost a litre of water over night. My mate has tried to identify the leak which is level to the rear of the drivers wheel arch and inline )From sode view) of the brake pipe.  he could see 3 metal tubes, 2 curved and 1 straight and from his discription it looks like it is dripping from the straight pipe on the metel/joint to the rubber pipe.  I cant bend down to see so he tried to get some pictures.

Seems there is no problem when hot but drips when cold (3' to 4' wet patch after 24 hours)as if a joint tighens when hot and leaks when cold.  But he could'nt see enough to see if any water was running down any of the pipe work.

Of the 3 pipes that can be seen from the wheel arch are 2 of the the fuel and fuel return pipes (curved ones)  is the 3rd (straoght) one a water pipe,

or is it possible it could be water running from the HBV, would the HBV leak when hot or cold or only if hot or cold,

would either make a difference if the climate had been set to hot or cold when the enging was turned off.

As said, only seems to leak when cold, car is a 3.0 Elite.

Pictures to follow once I find a way to arrow the leak area.   (poor quality though)
