Rain Sensors
« on: 23 June 2010, 15:04:38 »

Hi,
I have a 3.0 Elite 2001 (X Reg) Omega.
Does it have Rain Sensors for Rain Sensing Wipers?
If so where are they, how do I check it?

Also I have heard that some 3.2 Elite Models have cabin lighting (Like BMWs etc.). Lights that are always on, for some indirect/calm lighting of the cabin. Is this true? Where can I get some of this sort of lighting from?

Many Thanks,

Raj

No rain sensors. As for cabin lighting, some have a light at the rear of the autodim mirror. For what it`s worth you may as well have a birthday candle on the dash

Rain sensing wipers replace the intermittent wipe in position 1 on the stalk and have a small window in the black area of the wind screen behind the rear view mirror where the sensor lives. The interior ambient light lives in the bottom of the rear view mirror and points down at the gear lever area, didn't know it was there until i dropped something in the footwell iirc. Dunt do much tbh.

3.0 Elite's never had rain sensing wipers, they're too old. It was only available on the later DBW engines.
I have seen 'Y' and '51' 3.2 Elites without rain sensing wipers though. I had a 2.6 Elite on an '02' plate with rain sensing wipers.
The ambient lighting was only available on the later models, typically '52' plate onwards.
