One of the first things that I would check is the transmission fluid, is it topped up to the correct level ?.  And good idea if you can get to see what the colour of the fluid is from the gearbox ?.

Only other thing I can think of at the moment, is the solinoid for 1st to 2nd in the gearbox maybe acting up if the fluid level / colour seems okay ?.

Is there anyway you can get the codes read, to give an us an idea ?.

As per other thread, if you can put what area you in, someone maybe able to help guide you where to go to for help ?.

It's supposed to hold onto the low gear when cold to warm up the cats quicker.

Don't want to worry anyone unnecessary, but surely if the engine's warm, the cat's will be, so the gearbox shouldn't hang onto the gear for anything longer than necessary ?  :-?
