tyre wearing problem

just had two new front tyres replaced today,due to the old ones,one being bearly on the the legal limit but the other was a new one in april but since then it has worn excessivly on the the outer part of the tyre ? when new ones were replaced today i asked if they could doing tracking thinking this was the cause of the preoblem but they said tracking was alright so what could be causing this problem ????? :(

In my experience it is either tracking or a faulty wheel bearing that causes this.

I would take your car to a specialist, like Wheels In Motion, and get them to check it all out before you eat more tyres! ::) ::) :D :D ;)

i was thinking that but wasnt sure,i think itll have to go to garage tomaz...theres also a little play in steering wheel could this mean wheel bearings have gone??????????

the suspension strut/hub carrier bolts are adjustable.

if the springs/front shocks have been replaced at some time and the setup not restored, tyre wear will occur even thou the wheel alignment is correct.

as lizzie said, get it reset :y

ps, the wishbone bushes,bearings and trackrod ends should all be in good order before any adjustments are carried ouy.

Don't just nip to the garage... As Lizzie says, you need a specialist like WIM. What you actually need is a FULL GEOMETRY setup. About £60+VAT at WIM. I'm going on Friday as I replaced my wishbones today :y

could be toe(tracking) could be camber, could bo both contributing, could be a worn part/excessive play somewhere in steering or suspension.

Point is the odds of correcting it by just tracking are slim. Inspect for faults, rectify, set up for "full geometric set up" which encompasses camber castor and toe at the front and toe(which affects the non adjustable camber settings) at the rear, then ideally, fit new tyres.

Tracking alone merely adds to the waste of money thats being scrubbed of the, now new tyres, and most likely will continue to do so until set up correctly, and the car will then drive better/straighter.

i had one tyre wearing and it was because the steering idler had loads of play in it.
I replaced it put two tyres on an its been ok since

Sounds like the garage you get your tyres off is the problem, they dont seem to want to help or advise, would worry me if they are happy just taking your money for new tyres with out offering an explanation.
