Auto takes a while to change from 2 to 3
« on: 11 July 2010, 09:01:43 »

Hi guys
I have a 2.2 Auto,When im driving round the streets sometimes it takes ages for it to change from second to third,The revs go to very high before it changes,Motorways no problem,But on motorways you have to put your foot down to keep up with the traffic so its not noticeable, Its my first Auto and Omega,Has anyone had the same problem or is it common on Auto's,Many thanks guys in advance

I'm new to autos as-well... I used to get my car to change gear by adjusting how far the accelerator is pressed down. If you floor it then it won't change until the engine is red-lining. If you just tickle the accelerator then the gear changes happen at lower revs...

Service the fluid and filter and see if it behaves, although it's not the usual symptom of thumping or banging when engaging drive etc

Sticking solenoid maybe? Might Bo worth a code read first.

personal view is to change crank sensor before messing with anything else when gear change and engine speed are an issue

Ah in that case solenoid as said, possibly might be confirmed with an error code.

Yes I know what you mean those can send the box a bit loopy, but as all other aspects seem ok just one shift change playing up......

it might be worth noting for those new to autos  is that if you floor the accelerator and it redlines before changing it just means you have used the kick down feature of the box..
