Insurance Renewal quote Grrrrr
« on: 05 January 2008, 12:09:52 »

Just had my insurance renewal and i am not happy

I am 33 and held my licence for 6 years and have 6 years no claims which equals 65% off and for 3rd party fire and theft and i have mileage of 6000 a year which i still dont hit  :o :o i have still been quoted £342 which i think is way too high.

What insurance companies are members on here with so i can phone around as i want to go fully comp and last time i asked my insurer it was a crazy price of over £900

Thanks
Craig

don't phone - use confused.com first, its saves me money year on year. I'm currently with the post office £280 fully comp. (and I got another £50 cash back first year with them). Then, when you have your lowest quotes, if you want to go with a particular insurer, ring them and ask them to meet your lowest quote. 9 times out of 10 they will come pretty close. In fact, ring your current insurer and ask to be put through to the retention dept and tell them you'll leave unless they knock £100 - it does work.
good luck, Pat (don't forget to tell us how it panned out)

I did phone my insurer Prudential  and went mental at them as i checked last years amount with nothing changing apart from another years clean driving it had gone up by 40 quid after a long chat he said he would knock off one months charges so go it down to 311 big deal its still higher than last year. so asked for fully comp and that was 544 which is not to bad but still bad.

Told them i would have to ring around other companies and i was asked to phoned back when i had gotten other quotes which i will

Oh forgot to say i am parked on the road not on my own land or in a garage which i know bumps it up.

Got quoted 300 fully comp by Elephant this year. Then told them about the unresolved claim that was in progress and it went up to 400. >:(

Claim now resolved in my favour so we'll see if they give me a refund. I'm not holding my breath :(

That's at 37, 20 yrs driving, full NCD.

Shopping around and moving regularly is the key, IMHO. Long waits on the phone, gimmicks and the like are across the board nowadays so may as well just go for the lowest premium.

I tried it on the internet then phoned up for details - went up by about 110 120 when I mentioned LPG, they phoned up Fartis to ask - and I am with them already.

I would never use Poodential after an issue with them nearly 20 years ago

I have been with my Insurance company 5 years now, the cost has gone down from year to year, i pay now, due to the no claims system here only 30% of the normal price, which is 310 pound for fully comp.
Plus i have a thing called no claims protection, which costs me no extra, and means that i can have one accident  per year (my Fault) without loosing my no claims bonus. :y

some companies will protect no claims for 3 at fault claims

someone i know had an accident and ended up losing his no claims after his wife had "used a life" when she closed the automatic garage door onto the roof of their brand new top end Laguna :D

I've just done all this for SWMBO's car. Swiftcover.com was by far the cheapest.
WHO? Apparently they are part of Axa, but everything is done on-line. Compared to some of the prices people are emntioning for their Omegas we must live in an expensive-to-insure area. The best quote is £236 inc legal cover & protected NCD for a 40 something woman with no points, on a 1600 Astra.

Didn't you know Bolton is one of the car crime "hot spots" of the country mate.
