Boot release
« on: 10 June 2010, 15:31:53 »

Hi

Is there a way to enable the boot release mechanism WITHOUT having to turn engine off and take key out of ignition before button works.

Darn rubbish design really!

Super!

I assume the remote boot release will still work OK?

Yep. Only "problem" with this mod is that the delay time on the interior light is increased.

It's a good mod, but as said, the interior light will stay lit (10.5 seconds in my case), even if you are driving away. I rigged a redundant Trafficmaster switch as an "over ride", simply poke the TM switch, & int light goes out, works perfect.   :y

There is another mod that some Police used, a relay that fits behind the Light Switch Unit, think it was called 'Boot release relay mod' not sure if it was a Vx Part though.

Or, instead of simply cutting the red wire, put a "normally closed" switch into the line.

Activating your new switch you 'break' the red-wire and can pop the boot. Releasing the switch 're-makes' the red wire.

I'll get round to doing this mod myself one day!

Does that stop the interior light staying on?

Anyone know how to do this mod (that looks easy enough) but not having the interior light staying on? Why does it turn on the light anyway?
