Quick desperate help needed.
« on: 25 July 2010, 19:12:58 »

Ive fitted my pads, one side is fine but the other i put them in and the brakes are binding, i started up the car and the wheel would hardly move. What have i done wrong? i cleaned out the caliper and wound the piston back far enough for the pads.

Please help!

Well took the car out for a spin down the road and it seems ok, was on fairly level ground at a traffic lights and the car rolled forward on its own so maybe they will adjust in time.   :-/

Sounds like it has all settled down.

I had new pads and disks fitted a while ago, had 2 do each side a week apart though as we found the bolts had been rounded on the nearside, but each time the pedel went soft on the 1st press and then pressure was back to normal.

Have you checked your brake fluid level and whrn was the last time your brake fluid was changed,  Vx  recomend every 2 years or 24k Iif i remember (please correct if I am wrong)  So maybe yours is worth checking.  :y

Well i undid the filler cap on the tank before i changed the pads over to relieve any pressure, after the pads were done i syphoned sum brake fluid out as it had risen abit, left it at the max.

Not sure when the fluid was last changed but it looked nice n clean, like a yellowy bright colour.

it feels like its free'd up abit but untill i jack it up and see how freely the wheel moves i wont know, but after i came bk from the drive out, i smelt the wheel to see if it was burning and there was no smell at all so thats a good sign.

Jacked up the car tonite and the wheel now moves freely so thats a bonus! seems they just wanted to bed in.

They do work well although sumtimes give a little squeak?  :-/

These are EBC Ultimax, supposed to reduce noise from friction and are readily bedded straight out the box apparently?  >:(
