I would love to attend your lovely cambelt party, but my piece of sh*t doesn't need one for 85000 miles. ::)

Don't worry, being a VX there will soon be a spate of premature failures, after which the belt change interval will promptly be halved ::)

Yes and never again....there bloody awful to do and need the engine supporting due to an engine mount needing to come off. Access is a bit of a git to.

My advice, dont touch it............if they can afford to buy run and own an Audi, they can afford for somebody with all the right kit to do the cambelt.

Should have also added, idealy you need VAG Com or similar to reset the commencement of timing value in the ECU.

What year is it?

Just spoken to Timbuk and he said its OK to use his place. There is room undercover for about 25 to 30 cars there and you can get the BBQ is as well. Its about 2 miles from juction 3 of the M54 :y

Feb would be better for him as hes still setting the place up.

Sounds like the perfect place to do my diff pinion oil seal  :y

its a 96, and remember its the Audi (longetudinal engine, despite FWD) rather than other VAGs (transverse).

As its Mrs TheBoy's Dad's car, I have little say in whether I am doing it or not  :-X

Still a bitch to do, access is not easy as there is little room at the front as the transverse setup realy eats into the space.

Seeeing as you have to do it it will take somebody good about 3+ hours and check the water pump to, some have plastic impellers which are troublesome.

Some docs say rad out, others say not.

Not looking forward to it, but at least he has a big garage, and a constant supply of tea and bacon rolls...

As EP says i'm quite happy to host, especially as i haven't seen a lot of you for a while, didn't realise how much of a ball ache all of this was going to be getting this up and running, delay after delay after delay, i've had the keys for two months now  and i'm still not officially in the unit yet. Next Monday is when i officially start although i will be there from Friday. The unit itself isn't the one i was originally going to have but i've gone for the space undercover at the end of the day and this place is er...... big. Still got no leccy at the min so i will be running off a generator for now but hopefully the power should be on in a couple of weeks. Only down side is there will be no ramp as its not being delivered until March, finding a ramp is easy, getting it transported and installed at a reasonable cost is not so easy, and as i've located one in Telford i've just got to wait until i can have it :'(
Any weekend from  the middle of Feb is fine, i'll leave it up to you lot to sort it out, but as i've said, the unit is now there to be used and your all welcome to use it. 20 mins from Birmingham so quite easy to get to, obviously depending on where you are

TB has just asked me a couple of questions via PM which i thought would be best answered on here so everyone can see.

The unit will hold about 25-30 cars at a guess but without me loading it up it is difficult to tell. Realistically i would think we would be able to work on 15 cars with plenty of room, the yard outside is just as big so there is no problem with overflow or cars waiting but i don't really see space being an issue. If it rains a barbecue can be lit inside as the unit is very tall and plenty big enough. It has an upstairs for storage which would be a great place for taking pics.
I'm sure EP will tell me if i'm wrong as he has seen it im sure he will agree with me that there is more room than we will ever need

Its an Audi thing...  ...like mounting the longitudinal too far forward to bugger up handling (and make access difficult to front)
