Cambelt Party
« on: 08 January 2008, 02:38:03 »

I've read lots of posts recently indicating that there may be a cambelt party soon, so I thought I would start a thread so we can hopefully collect some specifics and a date / location?

We need:

1) A location. Somewhere big enough to park a few Omegas to be worked on simultaneously. Geographically somewhere that makes sense for most attendees - and any undercover working space is a definate plus point.

2) A date we all agree on. I would like to propose either:

Sat 19th Jan
Sun 20th Jan
Sat 9th Feb
Sun 10th Feb
Sat 23 Feb
Sun 24 Feb

3) A few cambelt "experts". I'm happy to class myself as one and can comptently change cambelts on any petrol models. I can also bring Markie who also knows his stuff.

4) A selection of locking kits. I have one, so does TB and Mark, and Kevin, so we should be OK on that score.

How about it? Thoughts please :)

let me check some dates with father tunnie.... they plan to be away one weekend in Jan/Feb time.

I will be happy to host again  :y

Double garage, so space to work on 2 cars in the dry. Lots of flood lights, Fit about 3/4 cars on the driveway, loads of on street parking, 'technically' its unlimited parking  ;)

Tech2 just up the road, if Jaime is away i am sure i could err 'borrow' it  :y

However i am no chef... so someone may need to take care of catering side of things.

My diff pinion seal does need doing....  ;)

It's a possibility I could use my parents place. They are going away in Feb  / March time IIRC. They have garage space for 3 cars and parking off the road for plenty more. Located between Reading and Newbury. I will ask the question.

I have a V6 cam belt kit as James said, and I'd be happy to contribute it and my limited experience with Omega cam belts to whatever takes place.

I'd also be happy to host one at home but parking is a bit of an issue.

I am trying to arrange a large, indoor area, with enough room for lots of cars. Its around 10 mins from my place.

Reality means we cant do more than possibly 9 cambelts (assuming 3 experts), and we would have to leave by a certain time.

I won't know if I can get the location for a while though.

That could be an issue, it takes several weeks to get things in motion even when we have a specific date.

I can reveal that The Boy has arranged use of the ex Rover longbridge factory.

Loads of space but, the last person out needs to turn the lights off  ::)

.. actually...

Seems 50% of the pictures are of places to sit around and drink tea. ::)

Actually, joking aside, to use this venue, we may have to fix a starting issue on a K series  :-[

And, no, its not Longbridge - nothing would ever get done there (well, no work ever happened there in that last 40yrs)
