Well done, another wad of dosh kept from the hands of the vx stealers [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
And while were on the subject of cambelts on 4pots.
Ive been wondering this for a while now.....
It is as crucial to use a locking kit on 4pots?
I watched my local garage (not vx) do one on one of my veccys
They marked the pullies with tipex and also on the casing.....the tipex marks were double check by another mechanic before the belt came and again after the new belt was fitted.
I guess doing it this way you wouldnt know if the belt that came off was on correctly to start with, which i assume you can tell with a locking kit.
Any other advantages using a locking kit?
Cheers
Bloody muppets dont know what they are doing clearly......you dont need to add marks as they are already there on the cam and backplate.
The tool is to stop the cam spinning and resulting in valve damage.....there is no timing adjustment on the 4 pot in the same way as there is on the 6 cylinder and beleave me...they can spin......bloody fast and hard to!
The biggest problem last night was fitting the belt, they are petty tight and require the crank to be spot on with the right hand belt run nice and tight.
Took about 1.5 hours taking it steady and chnaging water pump etc at the same time.
