I'm planning to give the barge a stretch of its' legs (and mine too) with a run up to and around the yorkshire dales later this week - planning to be there for a week or so.

Steady now Gents, they don't call it Gods country for nowt tha nose ! All of the previous advice is spot on and I should know cos I live here (well very nearly) !

You will find some cracking roads around too but whatch out for the A65 from Skipton (past Clapham). The feds have an Impreza (couldn't catch my Hayabusa though).  ;D

Mick, I can't find "Clapham Inn" - but I did find a "New Inn Hotel" - is that the one?
Matchless - will be taking that info with me and probably pop over to Carlisle anyway ...  ::)

Apologies yes it is the New inn at Clapham, the only place there to stay at, its OK though. Good food, reasonable prices., Sometimes stop there on my way back from Scotland when i have the time. First saturday of the month is always busy there as all the pennine club cvers meet up, get in with them at stay at there lodge from a couple of quid, on bunks, and self catering. ;D

On a more on topic note I always used to enjoy the run back home over the 59 out of Harrogate, past the big golf balls. Could get the tacho off the dial down that hill in me old Bedford.

Took a few bikes over there myself, but I used to do it 12 at once. I used to deliver em to the Yam dealers.
