brake pad sensors
« on: 01 September 2010, 16:07:51 »

when you buy a new set of pads, for lucas brakes, is one of them supposed to have a sensor with it or are you ment to use the excisting one? i've tried to remove the old one but it was so brittle it fell apart in my hands and the new pads didn't have one with them.

They usually do break when you try to salvage / re-use them.   They do not come with the pads, so you need to buy them separately ;) ;)

.....................and be careful fitting the new sensors as they can easily break when being fitted, unless you make sure the pad spring is well depressed as you are pushing the sensor shaft into the hole ;) ;)

I took both bolts out a mange to not break the old sensor , not sue you can do that with one bolt out, but found the sensors for £7.00 on the web

I broke the housing too,but the wires were still attached so i pushed the part into the pad and then super glued the plastic bit on to it again....

Worked so far  ;D

that's a bugger. to be honest i wouldn't be surprised if they are the original pads, it was an old chap that owned the car from new and it's only done just over 50k.
