hey peeps,

was on the way home earlier and i thought 'hmm my clutch pedal suddenly feels light and abit weird.'  :-? Parked up for an hour, went to pull away, got up the road, into 3rd and the clutch slipped like hell.

New clutch???

Engine out or drop gearbox???

not got a poster lift or anything like that, only some axle stands a jack and some skids, got too much ego to want to take it to Mr clutch but is it really worth the hassle?

Yeh, box out, not to hard to do actualy

As mark says easy to do. the only tight spot is the bolts on the top of the bell housing.
And you will need an extra body

thanks peeps thats what my chain of thought was, until i called my mate with braun and he was like 'waffle waffle waffle' about taking it to mr clutch coz 'its alot of fffing about bla bla bla', no disrespect to him i value his opinion but you know how it is lol

Do i need to get some sort of alignment tool? i've never been between an engine and box before (but feel its within my ability ) so not totally sure what it entails...

Did mine on my own. Removing the inlet manifold makes it easier to get at the starter motor oh and whatever you do don't turn the engine backwards, even slightly

lol sounds like the voice of experience!!!
as said easy to do on your own long as in 3 ft extension bar reaches the top bell housing bolts from the back, bastard to me is the top starter nut and bolt but i have learnt now superglue gel stick the nut in the correct position on the starter and its easy!! as you can just put the bolt in  as normal albeit carefully when you tighten the bolt the super glue lets go just as its gets very tight!! you can do the alignment by eye but 3/8extension bar with tape is the cheap way to todoit!

Im in cambridgeshire.. i take it you done a few then lol  if i need any pointers along the way i'll holla 

I got as far as getting the garage organised-ish (everything in one big heap together ) and got the car up on some ramps to get under to 'evaluate' and feel fairly confident to tackle it, along with the wishbones which need doing, so just gotta hope i can get the bits in on time to do it this weekend 

famous last words: looking at it and from what i've read its fairly straightforward...

ok so i havent had it go to plan already...

I decided 'sod it' Mr Clutch wanted 40 notes more than what i could get a clutch kit for to do the job so i decided it aint worth faffing around over £40, so booked it in, finished work, went home, had an apiffamy, checked my MOT and realised it ran out last month 

So i cancelled Mr Clutch, D'oh!!!

Now i have a car with no test and no clutch. I have the new wishbones to go on in prep, but need a clutch AND ITS FRIDAY!!!!

going to try to think what to do...
